This list is great- I bookmarked a bunch of new-to-me brands. I would love to see additional food gift guides- this is typically what I send to my extended family for holiday gifts since we all love food and don’t need more “stuff.”

SUCH a good gift guide! My in laws do foodie stockings as our only gifts - they’re amazing. I’m always looking for new small food brands that they haven’t heard of to surprise people with. Definitely going to buy the Cheerie Lane and Burlap & Barrel items! Any other small non-perishable food gifts ideas from small brands? Thanks!!

wow this is tremendous! thank you! also, calling 1-800-GIF-TING with a request: how to buy gifts for someone who has admittedly sharper “product research” than me & is satisfied with his rituals. e.g. determined his ideal hair care products eons ago & hasn’t strayed / knows the tells for spotting a good fish sauce / buys coats via brand recognition on ssence/vinted or at thrift stores. i feel like my gifts to him are neither novel nor tasteful enough. i’m thinking it might be a year to gift “experiences” instead… thoughts?

Thank you! & that's such a good request - I feel like I am unfortunately the same person you're describing. It's so hard to gift to me because either I just buy it, it's too expensive to ask for, or my taste is too specific hah. Here are some ideas:

-yes, experiences are great gifts! depends on where you live but you'd be surprised what cool things can be found on airbnb experiences - this summer my partner and I went on a private boat tour of an oyster farm and learned to shuck oysters. we both loved this so much!

-a book on a subject he's interested in, maybe even hunting down a vintage one on a designer or subject he likes on ebay would feel special!

-custom matchbooks with their name (first or last) or a phrase they say a lot, there are a ton of base designs/sellers on etsy or sites like minted

-magazine subscription - there are so many different nice niche magazines so this would depend on their specific interest but some starter magazine ideas: eaten, apartmento, delayed gratification. (they sound like the type to appreciate independent nice physical media)

-If they haven't heard of or is using Soft Services yet I think they might really like this brand

I could probably think of more if I knew more about them but based on what you told me I think any, or maybe even a combo of these could be a great gift!

Oh! Just thought - if you do the custom matches I would also gift a bowl + coffee table book with it as a little "coffee table" styling set. Bowl and book could be thrifted too for added vintage vibe.
